Ambassador Jerry Narace - Head of the CSME Unit of Trinidad and Tobago
The CSME Unit is an autonomous unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs charged with the responsibility of co-ordinating all activities involved in the implementation of the CSME in Trinidad and Tobago. The Unit is supported by a Cabinet Appointed Inter – Ministerial Consultative Committee (IMCC) and a Business and Labour Advisory Committee (BLAC). The Unit also collaborates with the CARICOM Trade Support Programme (CTSP) of the Ministry of Trade and Industry and both are housed at 6A Queen’s Park West, Port of Spain, Trinidad West Indies.

The idea of a Single Market and Economy emanated from the decision of the tenth meeting of the CARICOM Heads of Government in 1989. This initiative was a significant step in the efforts to strengthen Caribbean integration. Hence, CSME was established by revising the Treaty of Chaguaramas of 1973. The CSME today, consists of thirteen (13) participating Member States with a combined population of approximately six (6) million people.

The Mission of the CSME is to provide a single economic space that allows for the free movement of goods, services, capital and people across Member States of the Caribbean Community. Such an arrangement would provide for efficient and competitive production of goods and services for both regional and international markets.

This website http://www.csmett.com  is the latest venture of the CSME Unit of Trinidad and Tobago and an integral part of our ongoing Public Education Programme. It would include navigation into menus on CSME’s Member States, Newsroom, Updates, Library, Press Gallery, Videos and Audios, link sites to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, CTSP, Ministry of Trade and Industry, CARICOM and many more significantly interesting features. This Website would be your one stop shop for any related CSME matters and would also provide an interactive forum for comments and answers to any concerns you may have on the CSME.

As we look ahead to January 01, 2006 when the CSME will be fully implemented we thank you for your visit on the site and look forward to your participation.
